Dr. S. Purushothaman, a Critical Care Medicine specialist at Porunai Hospitals, holds an MBBS from Trichy SRM Medical College, an MD in Anesthesiology from JIPMER, and an IDCCM from PSG Medical College. With 3 years of experience, he manages critically ill patients with multiorgan dysfunction and specializes in respiratory, cardiac (including IABP, ECMO), neuro, nephro (CRRT, PLEX), trauma, and obstetric critical care.

He is skilled in procedures such as bronchoscopy and percutaneous tracheostomy and routinely uses POCUS for lung, TCD, and echocardiographic evaluations. His research on phantom limb pain is published in the Journal of Anesthesia. He has also served as faculty for mechanical ventilation workshops at JIPMER, contributed to CME sessions at St. John’s Medical College, Bangalore, and played a pivotal role in training healthcare staff during the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, he is trained in pain interventions, including C-arm guided nerve blocks and radiofrequency ablation.
